To catch a Magmar, you first need to beat Blane for your 7th badge. Then you need to go with Bill to One island (Bring with you a few ultra balls). Make your way up to Mt.Ember. Once tou get there, there will be a man who wants to teach you explosion. Magmar is in the grassy patch ahead of that man. Magmar is a rare pokemon and is usually at lv.38 so have patiance when searching for him. Note:Be sure you bring a pokemon that wont KO him.
