Beeline
When you are selecting which card to keep at the end of each round, make a beeline for anything that will let you keep a pair of a scoring suit. You play two cards each round, so having one of a particular suit is not terribly helpful.
Close scores
If the scores are close, it is as valuable to stop your rivals scoring in a hand as it is to net the points yourself. Do not be afraid of helping to hand a win to someone lagging behind overall. They will not challenge you for the win.
Play something
If looks like a scoring suit is not going to win the hand, play something from a suit that will not score for you, and will not influence the hand outcome.
