You must first get the Seventh Heaven sword and then unlock the Demon Shaft. Go to the one of the first few levels in the Demon Shaft. Equip the Seventh Heaven and you should start finding lots of Crystal Eyes for the Back Levels. I found 5 in the first two levels!
