8 Ball Pool

More General Tips

There are two main ways you can do the starting breaks. You can either hit the first ball as hard as you can with a top spin to achieve maximum velocity and spread the balls across the table; or you can be a bit more devious, and aim carefully for one of the back ones so that the cue ball stays in the bunch, making it more difficult for your opponent. Always think a couple of moves ahead. All of the professional pool players visualize the ball's path and set up the cue ball for the next shot. Learn the spins. It might be more tempting to just hit the ball head first and hope for the best, but sometimes the right spin can make even those impossible shots look like a piece of cake. If you really can't make out where the cue ball will end up, use a ruler and find the trajectories easily. Tournaments are time-limited, so make sure you move quickly. Use vibration settings to get a gentle reminder when it is your time to shoot. If your shots are too weak, you run the risk of the cue ball never reaching the side of the table and thus making a foul. Use the diamonds on the table's edge to calculate your shots. Make sure you practice offline before taking on any online players.
