When enemies are about to attack, a red sign will reveal. Vacate the red zone as quickly as it appears to prevent damage. You can frequently run behind an enemy to prevent damage.

There's all sorts of things you can craft in the game, however do you truly have to? Concentrate on using your resources to obtain weapons, potions, and bombs. Overlook the cosmetic things unless you have more resources than you can imagine every using.
