When you are playing a piece with two tiles, look at how both tiles will affect the level. If you make a mistake when placing a tile, it may block a pair of matching tiles that was ready for a third to merge. If this happens, watch for the pieces that can clear the way, and keep that section of the level open until one appears. Try to keep the level as open as possible. Because one or two new pieces will be added to the level on each turn, try to clear at least that many away each time. The best way to clear out space is to chain your moves. Do this by place your pieces in a layout that one merge will cascade into two.

Each tile cleared is worth the same number of points as displayed on the cleared tiles. To score well, try to set up and match as many high value tiles as possible.

This is obvious but - plan ahead, you know that the twos will turn to threes and threes to fours, so look at the present of the table, but also how it will look in the future.

There are multiple strategies for Merged! but keeping the table as clean as possible is a no-brainer, so you should look to make a clearance of a single number lead automatically to the clearance of the second number.
