You can more than double the length of Samus' grappling beam. Press the 'Z' button, then start hammering up and down on the control pad, while also pressing Z repeatedly. It might take a few tries, but the result is a grappling to reckon with. While using Samus' extended beam, press 'L' to make it home in on your enemies. It won't work quite like your usual grappling beam though. You'll need to manually press 'Z' when the end of your beam is on an opponent to reel them in. Unfortunately, if you fall of the screen, you'll need to pull this trick off again to have an extended grappling beam.
