Start a level that requires your hero to complete a task. When you complete the task press the 'Pause' button and quit. You will notice that you still have the money and Hero Exp that you earned in the level.

If you go to Smith and then turn around three times and talk to him you will get 500,000 Coins. If you turn around 6 times you will get 100 free Platinum.
