With the exception of flagships, ships have strengths and weaknesses against other types. Frigates (two missiles) are strong against Assaulters, but weak against Cruisers. Cruisers (chain gun) are strong against Frigates, but weak against Assaulters. Assaulters (three lasers) are strong against Cruisers, but weak against Frigates.
