Each level has three stars for you to gather. The amount of stars you get when you end up the level is figured out by for how long it takes you to complete the level and if you lose a life or not. Attempt to move as quickly as you can and do not diminish for too long-- getting three stars on a level also rewards you with two gems to invest in new characters and spells.
