Use the pearl for extraordinary seed once per level or you'll end up having the same rare or a common plant. No matter rare plant brings the vitality but it's not worth pearls loss as no of mystery seeds will end up with common plants mostly.

If you want to see more little fish when you zoom in plant more of the same plant combos. It helps to look at other people's reefs who are farther along than you and zoom in on their reef. Take note of which plants light up. This will not help you get rare plants, rare fish or increase your vitality.
