You can modify your device settings to earn great rewards in a short amount of time. If you don't mind taking that step, quit your game and head to your device's system settings. Adjust the clock's time forward at least 4 hours, then open the app again to find that you have earned whatever you would have if the game were actually running during that time. You can do this as often as you like.
