There's no point in trying to memorize anything. Dot placement is entirely random.

If one run seems to throw too much at you restart.

You'll spend a lot of time watching the line's movements but try watching the screen as a whole more. Focusing on each dot as it appears puts you in better shape to tap appropriately and keep your run going.
