Try to avoid drifting until you've got the course in question pinned down in your head. Otherwise, you'll often find yourself slamming into the sides of corners, or flying off altogether.

You can unlock the tracks to play in one off contests by cashing in your 'Sega Miles', which are accumulated the longer you race.

There are also on-track boosts on offer, marked by pink panels. Try and string these together, if you can, as they can make a real difference to your final position.

As ever, if you find yourself at the back, pick up the item boxes, as you'll be handed out extra treats to bring you back into contention.
