Enter Yoki Storm from the north
If a Yoki Storm forms a barrier preventing you from going south to a new area, run into that barrier, tap up so the screen stops buzzing, and tap the A key to get to the item menu. Tap the B key and you will be in the Yoki Storm area you were not supposed to visit. This is useful in Southwest Japan, to pick up Nurikabe and a Rebirth Potion for the Central Japan quests.
Enter Yoki Storm from the south
If a Yoki Storm repels you from going further north, run west and east at the barrier until you get in an encounter, then run from the encounter. On return to the main screen, you'll be a square north and inside the Yoki Storm. This can be used to get the helper Neko Musume and the Bishamon Statue in the very north of Japan at the start.
