The little dots on the power bar determine how far you hit the ball and correspond with the dots on the map. The dots on the map determine where the ball will land or start to lose momentum. For example, if the hole was on the second dot on the map, you would probably want to swing so that the power of your swing was at the first dot or halfway in between the first and second.
