Right after you fight the first part of Helms deep and return to the armory make sure to save your game. Leave and take an immediate left and press X at the lights to get items and elfstones. Return to the armory, save and exit the game. Load the game again and you will still have the items you collected and be ble to collect the same items again. (Although they arent very useful)
