This is only a glitch. During gameplay go to the Pause Menu and go to the Gadgets screen where you'll see gadgets, boots and helmets, etc. Eg. select the grindboots. Ratchet will do someting like grinding on the screen on the right. Then press it again right afterwards to unselect. Ratchet will keep grindind or whatever until you exit. This only glitches when selecting boots or helmets.
