Alternate endings

Complete the indicated task to view the corresponding ending.

Good ending
Accept Gerhman's offer. You will also earn the "Yharnam Sunrise" trophy.

Bad ending
Refuse Gerhman's offer. You will also earn the "Honoring Wishes" trophy.

True ending
Collect all three pieces of the "One Third of Umbilical Cord" pieces. The first piece is obtained killing Mergo's Wet Nurse. The second piece can be found in the Abandoned Old Workshop. The last piece is obtained by saving Arianna. She will then give birth to a child in the Tomb of Oedon sewer. Go to the Cathedral Ward, climb down the ladder, and kill her baby. Afterwards, kill Iosefka in her clinic, which is located in the area where the game began. After all three pieces are acquired, consume them before refusing the final offer.

Duplicating items

This glitch works with v1.01. Use the following glitch to duplicate as many Quicksilver Bullets and Blood Echoes as desired. Start a new game, and create a second character. Teleport that character to Hunter's Dream, and place a Pebble in storage. Exit the game, and return to the title screen. Select your main character, then teleport to Hunter's Dream. Sell everything in your storage to the merchant in the area. Place the item to be duplicated in your storage. For example, place Coldblood in storage for Blood Echoes. Place as many Pebbles as desired into storage, and they will be converted into that item. Repeat the process as many times as desired.

Easy Insight

Purchase Madman's Knowledge skulls from the Bath Messenger. They will cost Blood Echoes, only purchase them when you do not need to level.

Insight effects

Insight allows you to activate the Plain Doll in Hunter's Dream, which is required to level. Each point of Insight reduces your Beasthood stat, and spending Insight will increase it. Insight Bath Messages will sell items to you after reaching 10 Insight. Some enemies gain additional abilities after you pass 20 Insight, which will make them more difficult. The Lesser Amygdala in the Cathedral Ward become visible at 40 Insight.

Insight purchases

Bolt Paper: Coats weapon in lightning.
Fire Paper: Coats weapon in fire.
Pungent Blood Cocktail: A mature blood cocktail, thrown to attract beasts.
Sinister Resonant Bell: Invade another Hunter's world.
Small Resonant Bell: Join another player's game as a guest.

Less painful death

When your character dies, immediately press PlayStation and enter power saving mode. When you resume the game, your character will be next to where you died. You can collect the echoes and/or kill the creature needed. If you died while fighting a Boss, you will resume just outside of that area.

Recovering Blood Echoes

When you die, you normally go back to the last lantern you visited. Instead, as soon as the title appears when you die, immediately press the PS button on the middle of your controller, press the Options button, and choose "Close Application". Restart the game, and choose "Continue". Instead of being sent to the lantern, you will respawn exactly where you died with all your Blood Echoes. Note: The enemy that killed you will also be there. If a Boss kills you, you must traverse the mist to reclaim your Blood Echoes, but you will still respawn right outside that area.

Various General Tips

Practice the art of dodging. Equipment load is gone in Bloodborne and all characters are quick, so use that to your advantage.

The dodge is a sidestep when locked on and a traditional roll when not locked on. Both can be effective in different situations.

Keep an eye on your stamina. You don't want to endlessly hit an enemy and then run out, leaving yourself open to a big attack.

The big enemies in front of the elevator to Father Gascoigne (near the Central Yharnam lamp) always drop blood vials. So do the werewolves on the bridge above. If you need to farm for blood vials, those are good spots.

Don't focus too much on bloodtinge or arcane when leveling up early in the game. Those stats are better served for late game play or NG+.

You can parry attacks with your gun in Bloodborne. Wait until the moment right before an enemy hits you and then shoot. This will stagger the enemy, allowing you to get close for a visceral attack.

Remember to transform your weapon. The transformed version often does extra damage and has some great moves for crowd control and/or extra reach.

Try out all the different weapons and find one that suits your playstyle best. It's less about numbers and more about the moveset you find most comfortable.

If you're struggling with a particular area, take a look at your armor. Some outfits are better for poison, frenzy, etc.

Many items, such as molotovs, scale with the arcane attribute.

Arcane scaling on a weapon affects elemental bloodgems that are inserted into that weapon. Otherwise it does nothing.

You can still backstab enemies, you just have to stagger them first. Stealth + charge attack is a great way to quickly dispatch tough foes.
