On the online version it is a group kill so although you might not see any damage being done the damage you do is recorded and uploaded to the server if you want to kill him on your own I would suggest switching your game to offline and attack the glowing spotson his body those are the weak spots I believe that there are two on head two on each leg one on belly one on each wing and one on tail I could be wrong about numbers but I am pretty sure about them.
