Crack The Game Easily
To easily take over warehouses and hubs, even compounds and just make the game a lot easier, don't try to take anything over right from the jump.
Start off robbing banks and carrying out missions until you aquire $400,000. It takes some effort and time but it pays off big in the end. Purchase the 3rd level shotgun upgrade (the Street Sweeper). Then feel free to do whatever you please. This is easily one of the most powerful guns in the game. It generally requires only one shot to do the trick but sometimes it can take two.
The easiest way to get the $400,000 is doing missions, but robbing banks helps to. The easiest way to rob a bank is to pay off the cop outside. Walk into the bank and strangle the gaurds. They don't generally shoot if they see you strangling a fellow guard, they'll hit you with their club. Once one has been choked, proceed to do the same to the others until they're gone. Blow the vault and get out as quickly as possible. Hurry to your safehouse and save your game. Try to do this as often as possible.
Once you have the money to pay for the Streetsweeper weapon ($350,000) it's smooth sailing!

Easy Cash And Respect
Just another tedious farming method. If you happen to find a racket truck outside your safe house(s), start a ruckus by shooting it so the truck's back door opens. Whack the goons, take the money left over, and interrogate the driver. Head back to your safe house and save the game. Heading back outside afterwards, another racket truck might spawn/appear allowing you to repeat the process.
Easy Extortion
If you want to easily extort businesses, all you have to do is take out that particular neighborhood's family compounds and warehouses. By doing so, the businesses in the area will no longer need be shaken down, and you'll be able to extort them much easier.

Hidden money in A Grave Situation mission
After beating up the first guy, instead of going straight after the second guy, go left instead behind the low wall into the other section of the graveyard. Go to the right of the small building and look behind the row of tombstones to find a hidden bag of case worth $2,000. Now complete the mission as usual.
Hidden money in A Recipe for Revenge mission
After the cutscene where Michael shoots Sollozzo and McCluskey, instead of heading straight out to the car, shoot your way to the side door and to the first floor of Louis' restaurant. There are five hidden bags of cash here each worth $1,000.
Hidden money in A Royal Flush mission
After reaching the first hotel head up to the second floor and enter the left bedroom. There should be three hidden bags of cash, each worth $5,000.
Hidden money in Baptism by Fire mission
After killing Don Barzini, head back and up the courthouse stairs to find three hidden bags of cash totalling $50,000.
Hidden money in Change of Plans mission
After Sonny is gunned down at the toll booths and the assassins drive off, quickly go to the rightmost booth. Inside there are three hidden bags of cash each worth $5,000.
Hidden money in Fireworks mission
Before throwing the police sergeant off the roof, have a look around for four crates which contain hidden hags of cash each worth $1,000. Once you find them, break open the crate with your fists, melee weapon or a gun to get the cash. During this time, the sergeant may try to attack you - but if you have a gun equipped and revealed he will hide from you.
Hidden money in Horseplay mission
After killing the guard in the corridor leading to Woltz's bedroom, carefully follow the maid into the room to the right and then through the right hand door. This leads to balcony where there is a hidden bag of cash worth $20,000. You can either sneak past the maid and the guard here or stealthly kill them.
Hidden money in Intensive Care mission
After you have cleaned the entire hospital of enemies and Michael comes downstairs to meet you, don't talk to him just yet. Instead, go upstairs into the room where the Don is being treated (Room 6) to find a hidden bag of cash worth $2,000 in the back corner.
Hidden money in Now It's Personal mission
Before going into the church where Frankie is being held, go right and enter the graveyard. Go inside the small building near the entrance of the graveyard to find three hidden bags of cash totalling $5,000.
Hidden money in Order to Kill mission
After reaching the hotel where the informant is supposedly staying, instead of going straight in, head further down to road and look to the left to find five hidden bags of cash, each worth $1,000.
Hidden money in Sleeping with the Fishes mission
After shooting the first practice dummy in the shoulder and knee, it should fall onto and break open a cardboard box. Walk over to it to find a hidden bag of cash worth $2,500.
Hidden money in Sonny's War mission
After interrogating the arms dealer, instead of going straight to the warehouse at the docks, head to the roof of the building. There you should find ten hidden bags of cash totalling $10,000.
Hidden money in Special Delivery mission
As you head up the stairs, entering the last warehouse building you must bomb, go onto the edge of the balcony on smash up the crates to reveal a hidden bag of cash worth $14,500.
Hidden money in The Don is Dead mission
After you have finished interrogating the Tattaglia Capo on Manhattan Bridge, look for a tan coloured car to the left of the ambulance. Shoot at it until it explodes and the burnt out chassis disappears from the game. A hidden bag of cash worth $3,000 which was underneath the car is now revealed.
Hidden money in The Silent Witness mission
After reaching the funeral home, instead of going in, turn around and head right down the road. Soon you will come to flower bed with a nook on the left side of road, just after a warning that you are leaving the mission area. Quickly head into this nook and grab the hidden bag of cash worth $7,500 behind the barrel before you are timed out.
Hidden money in Tom is Still Missing mission
After the mid-mission cutscene, crawl through the hole in the fence and head towards the crates in front you on your left. Break open the leftmost crate to reveal a hidden bag of cash worth $4,000.
