Get into the habit whenever you go out to explore to place as much resources as you can in the trunk of your vehicle. Doing this will mean you will not have to look for resources all the time because you will have a stockpile you can fall back on.

Listening to your community and building the structures that they request will grant your community bonuses.

Early in the game while you are weak it is less of a risk if you go out at night and gather all the resources you can find from the buildings that are near to your Outpost.

Early in the game save your Influence for your first two outposts instead of using them on trading.

If you hold down LB while on a ladder you will be able to climb up it faster or slide down. Remember though that climbing the ladder in this way will cost you stamina while sliding down will not cost anything.

Take advantage of your radio to get the materials you need when you are low on supplies. This is a fast and efficient way of getting what you want but remember you cannot rely on it as you can only do this every few minutes.
