About Face maneuver

This type of move is done when your character whips around 180 degrees quickly. To perform the move, hold Analog-stick Away to start walking backwards + A for a short time. Release A when your character turns around to perform it. To avoid frag grenades or retreat somewhere fast, keep holding A and Marcus will "roadie run" in the opposite direction.

Closing Emergence Holes

When an Emergence Hole opens up, toss a grenade into it. This will automatically close the hole, and therefore keep the locusts from coming out.

The Hammer Of Dawn can easily destroy Emergence Holes. You must activate it by targeting an enemy first, and then aim it toward the Emergence Hole.

Fire a Torque Bow arrow into an Emergence Hole. This is somewhat challenging to do, due to the straight line of fire given by the bow. However, if you are close enough to fire while the line of fire is arced, it is possible to make it into the hole. A Torque Arrow stuck in the top of the hole will close it as well.

When there is an Emergence Hole, take out your Lancer, go over the hole, and hold B. When you do this, every enemy that comes out of the hole will get chain-sawed.

Despicable You

Begin a new game on the Insane difficulty setting and play through the Prologue area until you destroy the Comms Tower, partway through. Blast the bunker with grenades, and grab a new set of grenades to make the next area easier. Open the door, proceed to the main gate, and initiate a cutscene by interacting with the panel. Keep going to the next area. As you come through the gate, you should find three enemies. Kill them and then sprint toward the stairs. Before you reach them, however, turn toward the right. You should see a gate starting to close. Dive under it before it is done closing and you will find a container to your left. It contains a special freeze ray weapon that should remind you of the one used in the Despicable Me cartoon, although it unfortunately doesn't come with enough ammunition to be especially useful throughout the remainder of the game.

Dom's Toms

On any difficulty level, play through the campaign until you reach the greenhouse in Act 2 of Chapter 2. There, destroy two waves of enemies. Around you, there also are tomato plants growing in pots. Make sure that you destroy every last one of the pots before leaving the building, precious though the plants are to their owner. A lot of the pots are positioned out in the open, on tables, but make sure that you don't miss the pot located on a high shelf. When every last pot has finally been destroyed, you'll know it because Marcus will start an extended, profanity-laced rant. When it concludes, head toward the building's exit and you should spot a new tomato plant. Investigate it to receive Dom's Toms, special saucy grenades that function like standard ones but look very different.

Easy "Gone With The Windflare" achievement

You can get this achievement through natural progression of the campaign, but it can easily be obtained during Act 2 - Chapter 3: Plan B. When you reach a section where they ask you to choose between two paths (left or right), choose the left path. After spawning, there will be enemies in front of you with some bales of hay being held by a wooden gate. Shoot this wood to release the hay and kill the enemies. Then, look across the river/creek and do the same on the other side to kill a total of 4-5 enemies. Reload the last checkpoint and repeat this process until you get the "Gone With The Windflare" achievement. You can take turns if you are playing in co-op.

Easy "Stop Hitting Yourself" achievement

During the last wave of the "Horde" in Act I - Chapter 4: A Few Snags, a single Guardian will spawn marked with a short cutscene. Kill him, and he will drop his weapon where he crashes. Quickly go to his frame, and pull out the Salvo. Shortly afterwards, two more guardians will appear. Use the Salvo heavy weapon to kill one of the Guardians to get the "Stop Hitting Yourself" achievement. If you have any issues, try playing on a lower difficulty. It is also possible to get this achievement in Horde 3.0 mode since Guardians spawn during some waves. You can also pick up the Salvos from the bonus challenge weapon crates to make it easier.

Easy "Whoomp, There It Is!" achievement

This can be done during any part of the campaign. It can easily be completed in co-op or versus with another player. It can be done solo, but it is a lot harder to steal a kill from one of the AI. To do this, take cover across from an enemy on a shallow object. Press Forward, then X to pull them over the cover. Once they are pulled over, stay close to them and press Y to execute them. While playing in co-op, have one player pull an enemy over cover, then have the other player execute them to get the "Whoomp, There It Is!" achievement. Have the player that did not get the achievement do the execution next so both players get the achievement. An easy place to do this is during the "Yank & Shank" tutorial in Act I - Chapter 1.

Faster reload times

When you press RB to reload, there will be a clear bar with a small white segment somewhere along it. It will appear where your bullets used to be. There will also be a smaller white bar moving across the clear bar. As soon as the white bare gets inside the white segment, press RB again. This will reload your weapon much faster, and if timed just perfectly, will give your gun an extra boost in fire power. However, if you do not time it correctly, the clear bar will become red and it will take even longer to reload than if you had not attempted it.

Finding C.O.G. tags

In Campaign mode, look for the dead soldier symbol (red gear with skull inside) painted on a wall, floor, or other location. This indicates that the Locust have killed some Gear soldiers in the area. Because Gear soldiers wear C.O.G. tags, you should be able to find one nearby.

Giant Leviathan Easter Egg

In the Harbor multiplayer map, shoot the six little Leviathan statues around the map in a specific order, then activate the switch at the Longshot spawn to get a giant Leviathan to jump out of the water.

Hidden Cole Train audio cue

During the Act V sequence where you command a giant DB mech and are fighting through the Swarm enemies toward the dam, you will get a tooltip to press B to perform a melee kick. Kick the car on the left ledge through the "V" shaped trees and fireworks will spark from the trees and you will hear a hear a short Cole Train audio cue.

Insane mode

Successfully complete Campaign mode on the Casual or Hardcore difficulty to unlock the Insane difficulty.

Marcus the Babysitter

If you pay attention to the screens in the Prologue, you'll notice the man in the lab coat (who is obviously Baird) had a conversation with a person named "VINTER." This is an example of Marcus checking in with Baird to see how JD is doing. Baird also has a conversation with First Minister Jinn, which is on the screen after you play through the Prologue.

Maria's Tombstones

While you're running through the graveyard in Act 3's Chapter 2 - Night Terrors, you can find a tombstones with the letters MA, R, I, and A etched in them.

Riding a Locust Reaver

In Act 1 - Chapter 0: Prologue, reach the section where you must defend the House Of Sovereigns on E-Day. Kill the Corpser with the Hammer Of Dawn to view a cutscene. Defeat the wave of Locust soldiers and Boomers that spawn afterwards. A Locust Reaver will land after this wave. Once the Reaver lands, kill the pilot of the Reaver, then quickly run underneath the Reaver and press X to climb on and control it. Note: If you want too long, the Reaver will automatically die. While riding the Reaver, you can fire rockets and kill the other Reaver in the area. You can also mount and dismount as often as desired.
